To be a successful agricultural entrepreneur, the farmer:

1.    Must be interested in the business of farming for its sake and not because it provides an easy access to loans.  Must seek advice of professional and/or practicing farmers.

2.   Must have some knowledge of the business embarked upon e.g. arable or livestock.

3.    Must have defined objectives and must be clear about the goals.

4.    Must make proper plans that will assist to attain such objectives.

5.    Must consider the scale of farming intended.

6.    Must loan to grow with the business i.e. start on small scale and then expand gradually, and

7.    Must learn to keep proper records of the business.
